Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide (five amino acids) that triggers the pituitary gland to release growth hormone. What makes it different from other secretagogues like GHRP-6 or GHRP-2 is what it doesn’t do — it doesn’t significantly raise cortisol, prolactin, or appetite hormones. Most GH secretagogues activate multiple pathways. Ipamorelin is unusually selective, which is why it’s the preferred choice when clean GH release is the goal.
It works through the ghrelin/GHS receptor, which is a different pathway than CJC-1295 (which works through GHRH receptors). That’s why the two are commonly paired — CJC-1295 amplifies and extends the signal, while Ipamorelin triggers the actual release.
